Comparative study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Pioglitazone and Metformin on HOMA IR and HbA1c in patient of prediabetes

In India, the number of people with diabetes is increasing day-by-day. Due to a sole “Asian Indian Phenotype,” Indians develop an era earlier and have onset complications. Hence, it essential evaluate stage disease progression. Prediabetes, typically defined as blood glucose levels above normal but below thresholds diagnosis diabetes, risk state that defines high chance developing diabetes. The present study was Prospective, open label, comparative, randomized, parallel group, single center study. Comparison two active treatment groups over period six months. Sixty patients either sex in age more than 40 years prediabetes, HbAlc range 5.7 6.4 % at screening per ADA. effect metformin pioglitazone were observed on various parameters i.e. Serum Insulin, FBG, HbA1c, HOMA-IR. group mean change HOMA-IR from baseline 6 months 3.44 2.21 (-1.23); other hand, Pioglitazone 3.30 1.91 (-1.39). Whereas, serum insulin 35.58 26.73 (-8.85) group; 35.13 21.77 (-13.36).
